Rampant Chattogram skittles Dhaka to 116

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2020 (BSS) – In a bid to move to the final of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, Gazi Group Chattogram kept them in favourable position by dismissing Beximco Dhaka to paltry 116 in the second Qualifier game at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Mustafizur Rahman led the way with 3-32 while he was ably supported by fellow pacer Shoriful Islam, who ended with 2-17.

In the face of the devastating bowling of two bowlers, Dhaka, who chose to bat first, couldn’t come up with any significant plan.

In the search for a rapid start, Dhaka sent Sabbir Rahman and Muktar Ali instead of an inform Naim Sheikh, to open the innings but the plan backfired as both Sabbir (11) and Muktar (7) were removed cheaply.

Naim came to bat in No.3 position in which he was not much used to and couldn’t deliver. He was out for 12.

Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Yasir Ali seemed to regroup but that was just for a while. Mushfiqur holed out one at square leg for 25, bringing an end to the 25-run partnership.

Al-Amin Hossain (25) and Yasir Ali (24) fought hard but got little support from another end.

Mustafizur Rahman came up with fire in his last over to ensure Dhaka wouldn’t get a big total which could leave Chattogram in a discomfort state.

Brief Score:

Beximco Dhaka 116 all out in 20 overs (Al-Amin 25, Mushfiqur 25, Yasir Ali 24, Naim Sheikh 12; Mustafizur 3-32, Shoriful 2-17, Soumya Sarkar 1-3, Nahidul 1-15, Rakibul 1-26).
