FM Subrata finishes fourth in U-18 open category

DHAKA, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS) – FIDE Master Subrata Biswas finished
fourth in the open Under-18 open category of the Asian Continental
Selection of FIDE Online World Cadet and Youth Rapid Chess
Championships, said a Bangladesh Chess Federation press release today.

He secured five points from seven matches. India’s Grandmaster P,
Inian and International Master Sankalp Gupta and Iran’s Golami Orimi
Mahdi advanced to the final stage with five and a half points each.

A total of 28 players including one grand master, six International
Masters and four FIDE Masters from 18 countries participated in the
Open Under-18 Group.

In the sixth and seventh rounds matches held Sunday last, FIDE
Master Subrata defeated Lianilo Paul Mathews of Philippines and
candidate Master Lianaz Rayudu Dilshan Sri Lankan respectively. The
other players of Bangladesh are Women’s FIDE Master Noshin Anjum
finished 13th with four points from seven matches in girls’ under-16
group, Wadifa Ahmed became 15th with four points from seven matches in
girls under-12 group, Nusrat Jahan Alo finished 17th with three and a
half points from seven matches in girls under-14 group.

Mortuza Mahathir Islam finished 19th in Open U-16 group with three
and a half points from seven matches, Kazi Jarin Tasnim became 20th in
girls U-18 group with three points from seven matches, Swarnavo
Chowdhury became 30th in open U-14 group with 2.5 points from seven
matches.

Sakline Mostafa Sajid finished 32nd in Group 10 with two points from
seven matches and Syed Ridwan became 35th in Open Under-12 group with
one point from seven matches.

A total of 324 players from Asia and Australia continental’s
countries participated in different groups. The final stage match will
start from December 19. Bangladesh’s candidate master Manon Reja Neer
will play in the final stage of Open U-10 Group.
