CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS) – The 49th martyrdom anniversary of Birshreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir was observed with due respect in Chapainawabganj today.
At 9 am in the morning, wreaths of flowers were offered to the monument of Birshreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir at Rehaichar where he breathed his last.
Later at 10 am, wreaths of flowers were offered at the graves of Birshreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir and Shaheed Major Nazmul Hoque on Sonamasjid premises.
After that a doa mahfil was held there.
Law maker Dr. Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, Ferdousi Islam Jesi, MP, Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Monzurul Hafiz, Superintendent of Police AHM Abdur Rokib, Bir Muktijoddha and former sadar upazila chairman Md. Ruhul Amin and Bir Muktijoddha Tariqul Alam, among others, were present at the the programme.
Birshreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir was shot dead by the Pakistan army during a fierce fighting at Rehaichar on the bank of the river Mohananda in Chapainawabganj town on December 14, 1971 before dawn. Later, he was buried on the Sonamasjid premises.
