Mushfiqur praises bowler’s effort after winning Eliminator game

DHAKA, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS)- Beximco Dhaka captain Mushfiqur Rahim heaped
praise on his bowlers to defend such a small total and earned the nine-run
victory against Fortune Barishal in the Eliminator game.

The victory put Dhaka into the second Qualifier in which they will take on
the loser of the first Qualifier game.

Dhaka was restricted to a 150-8, a total that looked not enough to win the
game. However the bowlers bowled well in tandem despite a shoddy fielding
effort, which eventually helped them hold Barishal back to 141-9.

“Our bowlers should get the credit for the victory,” Mushfiqur said after
the match.

“I am really disappointed with our fielding effort. But the bowlers created
chances always while defending the small total. That’s a positive sign ahead
of the crucial second Qualifier game.”

Mushfiqur hoped that his team would play with the same spirit against their
opponent in the second Qualifier, which is crucial for them to move to the
final.

“I think we are now confident about the second Qualifier game. We will go
ahead with a good plan and I hope we can execute it in the game. I also hope
we’ll play as a unit,” he remarked.

He also praised his batsmen’s effort to make a reasonable total in the
board.

“We thought we would get a batting friendly wicket but it was not that.
There was turn and swing, which we understood once we lost three wickets in
quick succession. Nonetheless we have no complaints about the wicket,” he
said.

“Our batsman batted well with Yasir Ali Rabbi leading the way. Akbar Ali
played a cameo and we got a reasonable total.”
