‘Digital Bangladesh now a reality’

GAIBANDHA, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS) – Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gaibandha Abdul Matin in a function here has said Digital Bangladesh is now not a dream but a reality.

People are taking 150 types of services from digital centres around the country. A number of entrepreneurs are providing digital services every month huge beneficiaries are availing of e-services, he said.

The DC made the comments while addressing a seminar on Digital Bangladesh organized by district administration at his conference room of the town here on Saturday marking the Digital Bangladesh Day-2020 at the directives of a2i Programme of Prime Minister office.

Presided over by additional deputy commissioner(general) Alamgir Kabir Saikat, general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique, additional district magistrate Sadequr Rahman and Sadar UNO Md. Rafiul Alam spoke at the function as special guests.

The speakers in their speeches said in 2009, the government led by Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina announced to turn the country into a digital Bangladesh by 2021 and since then, the government had been working relentlessly to implement it.

By this time, the people of Bangladesh in both towns and the rural areas are enjoying the ICT facilities being provided by the government and the efforts continued, the country would be digitized before 2021, they also said.

The deputy commissioner in his concluding speeches urged the people from all walks of life to help the present government to build 100 percent Digital Bangladesh, a mission and vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in specific time.

Later, the prizes were distributed to the winners marking the Digital Bangladesh Day-2020.

A number of district level officials, public representatives, political leaders, chiefs of academic institutions, invited persons including journalists took part in the function.
