45 more test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-five more people of Rangpur division were tested positive today for coronavirus (COVID-19) at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in the division.

Health officials said the 45 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 225 samples collected from all eight districts of the division at the daily infection rate of 20 percent against Saturday’s infection rate of 20.69 percent.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 10.64 percent on Friday, 13.03 percent on Thursday, 15.42 on Wednesday, 15.69 percent on Tuesday and 12.23 percent on Monday last in the division.

Among the 45 new patients diagnosed today, 23 were reported positive after diagnosing 131 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.
“The 23 new patients include 19 of Rangpur, one each of Kurigram, Gaibandha and Lalmonirhat and two of Nilphamari,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 22 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 22 new COVID-19 patients include 21 of Dinajpur and one of Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:30 pm.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Assistant Director (Health) and Focal Person of COVID-19 for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 14,846 as 45 new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 14,846 patients stands at stands at 3,790 in Rangpur, 749 in Panchagarh, 1,277 in Nilphamari, 943 in Lalmonirhat, 986 in Kurigram, 1,436 in Thakurgaon, 4,273 in Dinajpur and 1,392 in Gaibandha districts,” he said.
