One gets life term jail in narcotics case in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a drug peddler to life in jail for trading drugs in 1991.

Chattogram 4th Metropolitan Additional Sessions Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiyan awarded Immam Hossain, son of late Abdul Mazid, hailed from Harbang village under Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar district to life term imprisonment for trading drugs.

The court also fined him Taka 5,000 in default to suffer six months more in jail.

According to the prosecution, police arrested Immam Hossain with one kilogram of heroin at GEC crossing area under Panchliash thana in the city on 19 March in 1991.

Police filed a case against the alleged drug trader with Panchlaish thana on the same day.

Police submitted a charge-sheet against him on January 11 in 1992, while the court framed charges on November 2 in 2009.

The court announced the verdict after examining a total of five prosecution witnesses out of 11.
