Stocks open week maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) – Like previous two consecutive sessions, country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today closed trading at the first session of week
maintaining the gaining streak as optimistic investors continued their buying binge on large-cap issues.

DSEX, the key index of the DSE, today went up by 31.77 points or 0.62 percent to settle at 5,126.43. Two other indices also closed higher.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 23.59 points to finish at 1,798.75 and the DSE Shariah Index advanced 11.10 points to close at 1,180.63.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, crossed the 10-billion-mark and stood at Taka 10.03 billion on the country’s prime bourse, which was higher than the previous day’s turnover of Taka 9.37 billion.

Of the issues traded, 141 advanced, 153 declined and 62 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

IFIC topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Beximco, Rupali Insurance and Fortune.

Makson Spinning was the day’s best performer while Keya Cosmetic was the worst loser.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also kept gaining with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—soaring 83.78 points to close at 14,686.55 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX –rising 55.16 points to finish at 8,844.99.

Of the issues traded, 101 gained, 122 declined and 54 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 18.77 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 352.74 million.
