Exemplary punishment for vandals of Bangabandhu’s sculpture demanded

RAJSHAHI, Dec 13, 2020 (BSS) – Leaders of the local unit of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) have unequivocally called for exemplary punishment to those involved in vandalizing of an under-construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.

They put forward the demand while addressing a human chain meeting at Rajshahi Medical College premises in the city today. They also vehemently condemned the vandalising incident of the under-construction sculpture of Bangabandhu.

BMA central committee vice-president Dr Tabibur Rahman Sheikh, Dr Samil Uddin Shimul, MP, president of local unit of Swadhinota Chikitsok Parishad Dr Khalilur Rahman and its general secretary Dr Mahbubur Rahman Khan, among others, addressed the meeting.

The speakers termed those who vandalised Bangabandhu’s sculpture as enemies of the country and urged the authorities concerned to bring those to book.

They urged every citizen to remain alert against evil forces so that such heinous incidents could not reoccur on this soil ensure exemplary punishment to those.

The speakers expressed firm commitment to uphold honour and dignity of Bangabandhu through forging social resistance against all the wrongdoers.

The professional leaders urged the law-enforcing agencies to bring those who desecrated Bangabandhu’s sculpture and instigators.

They unanimously said the name of Bangabandhu would never be erased from the heart of Bangalis.
