Religion being misused as a tool to confuse people: Nuruzzaman

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2020 (BSSA) – Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed has said some vested quarters are trying to confuse the common people by misinterpreting and misusing religion.

Some people of the Jamaat-BNP clique are trying to pollute politics and put the common people in danger by misinterpreting religion through Waz mehfils, he said.

The minister made the remarks while laying the foundation stone of a flood shelter virtually at Bhotmari SC High School in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief is extending financial assistance to construct the flood shelter at a cost of over Taka three crore under the ‘Construction of Flood Shelters in the Flood-Prone and River Erosion Areas (Phase-3)’ project.

Nuruzzaman said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has made the common people happy through her relentless works to ensure their welfare.

“The prime minister has become a symbol of confidence of about 17 crore people of the country,” he said, adding that the leaders and workers of the Awami League at all levels and common people should be aware of the insidious quarters.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always does what she says and that is why the people of the country love her with all their hearts.

“The people pray for the well-being of Sheikh Hasina. So, everyone must work together to keep Sheikh Hasina in power also in the future to further accelerate the pace of development for building a developed Bangladesh,” he said.

The minister said the government is building houses for the homeless people in realization of the promise of the prime minister in celebrations of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Mujib Year.

“The houses being built under the project would be handed over to homeless people who will get the opportunity to live in those houses permanently,” he said, adding that none will remain homeless in the country as pledged by Sheikh Hasina.

Presided over by Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rabiul Hasan, President of the Governing Body of Bhotmari SC High School Md. Selim Mehedi attended the function as the special guest.
