Vandalising of Bangabandhu’s sculpture condemned in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 12, 2020 (BSS) – Government officials at a discussion here today vehemently condemned the vandalising of an under-construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.

They also expressed firm commitment to uphold honour and dignity of Bangabandhu through forging social resistance against all the culprits.

Besides, they demanded for bringing those who desecrated Bangabandhu’s sculpture and instigators under the law of the land and urged every citizen to remain alert against evil forces so that such heinous incidents could not reoccur on this soil.

Officials and employees of the divisional and district administrations, different cadres and judiciary jointly organised the discussion at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city today.

Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandaker, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten, District and Session Judge Meer Shafiqul Alam, Chairman of Rajshahi Development Authority Anwar Hossain, Managing Director of Rajshahi WASA Sultan Abdul Hamid, Additional Chief Engineer of Department of Public Works Khalequzzaman Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Masud Hossain and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil, among others, addressed the discission.

They unanimously said the name of Bangabandhu would never be erased from the heart of Bangalis.

Besides, they said those who vandalised Bangabandhu’s sculpture are enemies of the country and urged the authorities concerned to ensure exemplary punishment to those.

The government urged all quarters to forge strong resistance against the wrong-dowers collectively.
