1 more key person accused arrested in Indian lynching case

NEW DELHI, July 9, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – Indian police Monday claimed to
have arrested one more key person accused in the mob lynching of five men in
the western state of Maharashtra earlier this month.

The five victims belonging to a nomadic tribe were passing through
Rainpada village in Dhule district Sunday when they were attacked by the mob
on suspicion of being child-lifters.

“The accused, identified as Dasrath Pimpalse, was nabbed from a dense
forest near the Warsa village, around 60 km from Rainpada village, late
Sunday afternoon,” a police official said.

According to police, Pimpalse was one of the 10 men who had led the mob
that killed the five men brutally. “The number of arrests in the case has now
risen to 26,” he added.

Cops earlier said that the mob lynched the five men allegedly over rumours
of child abduction spreading over social media platform WhatsApp.
