Padma Bridge is now fully visible: Tajul
DHAKA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam said the long-cherished Padma Bridge has become fully visible under the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He made the comments while speaking at a view-exchange meeting on COVID-19 situation at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city. The Finance Division arranged the meeting.
Speaking as the chief guest, Tajul said many people made comments at that time that it would be quite impossible to build the Padma Bridge without funding from development partners.
Many people were involved in conspiracy so that Padma Bridge could not be built, he added.
The LGRD minister said overcoming all intrigues and obstacles, the Padma Bridge is now fully visible with own funding under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Construction of such a big bridge has been made possible as the country has the financial capacity.
About the coronavirus pandemic, Tajul said the deadly virus has paralysed the global economic system.
But, he said, Bangladesh continues its development journey by overcoming various obstacles and is moving forward as per the roadmap of its Vision-2041.
To address economic setback amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the prime minister announced a special package of around Taka 1.22 crore, which is still being implemented, Tajul said.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam and Senior Secretary of Finance Division Abdur Rouf Talukder also spoke at the meeting.
