Tofail blasts critics over sculpture issue
BHOLA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed today said those, who want to create controversy over sculpture issue, are uneducated.
“There are many sculptures in many Muslim countries of the world. Politics today has started with sculpture issue. Those who want to create controversy over sculpture issue are uneducated,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration and foundation laying programmes of the district Muktijoddha Complex building and the foundation stone of the district model mosque respectively in the hall room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here under the arrangement of District Administration and Public Works Department (PWD).
The veteran AL leader also added that Indonesia, the world’s first largest Muslim state, has a sculpture of the father of their nation. Saudi Arabia has pictures of fists and horses and Iran has a sculpture of Omar Khayyam and Ferdows, he said, adding that Iraq has also sculpture of Margina, the intelligent woman of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
He went on saying that Malaysia has a National Monument for those who were martyred in World War II.
There is a sculpture in the name of the current president of Turkey. There are also sculptures there in Tunisia.
He further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly and under her prudent leadership, the country is in top and safe position in Asia amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Our per capita income is higher than India,” he continued.
Deputy Commissioner Md Masud Alam Siddique presided over the function while District Superintendent of Police Md Kaiser, District Council Chairman Abdul Momin Tulu and Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain were present, among others, on the occasion.
