Rapist gets life term imprisonment in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS)- A Chattogram court on Thursday awarded life term imprisonment to a man in a case filed over raping a nine-year-old girl at Banglabazar, Debarpar area under city’s Biyazid thana.
The judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 Jamiul Haider delivered the verdict convicting Alamgir Hossain, 55. court PP MA Naser confirmed the matter to BSS.
The prosecution story in brief, is that Alamgir Hossain sent his neighbor a nine-year-old girl to buy cigarettes from nearby shop in Banglabazar Debarpar area on June 19, 2016. As she returned from the shop, he took the girl to a room, tied her up and raped her, court sources added.
Mother of the girl filed a case with Biyazid thana a few days after the incident.
Police submitted charge sheet against the accused on July 18, 2016 while the court framed charges against him on July 25 in 2017.
The court announced the judgement after examining the nine prosecution witnesses out of 11.
Court sources said the convicted person is in jail while the verdict was pronounced.
