Sports ministry to set up youth shops, agro-processing centers on ‘Mujib Year’
DHAKA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS)- The Ministry of Youth and Sports today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fourth IR Agro Innovations and Technologies Ltd to implement a project titled “Creating Young Entrepreneurs, Establishing Employment and Poverty Reduction through Establishment of Agricultural Processing and Marketing Centers” during the Mujib year.
Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Akhter Hossain and Chairman of Fourth IR Agro Innovations and Technologies Ltd Kazi Golam Ali Sumon inked the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at the conference room of the ministry, said a press release.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell attended the MoU signing ceremony virtually as the chief guest.
The state minister said the Ministry of Youth and Sports has taken various steps for youth development on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In its continuity, to ensure safe agricultural goods production management, processing, marketing, protection of farmers’ interests and ensuring fair prices at the consumer level, at least 100 youth shops and express kitchens will be set up in Dhaka Metropolitan and other areas and 100 agricultural farms will be set up outside of Dhaka metropolitan area.
Through this project, an agro-ecosystem will be built by ensuring that the products are produced at the farmer level, processed, transported, marketed (outlets and online) and reach the consumer, he added.
He further said that this project will play an important role in creating young entrepreneurs of the country, creating employment and getting fair price to the farmers.
Senior officials of the ministry and the Fourth IR Agro Innovations and Technologies Ltd were present at the function.
