Team unity key to Dhaka’s success: Robi
DHAKA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS)- All-rounder Robiul Islam Robi who scripted Beximco Dhaka’s fourth straight victory, which sealed their playoffs in Bangabandhu T20 Cup said the team unity played a pivotal role in Dhaka’s success in the tournament.
Beximco Dhaka was at the knife-edge of being eliminated from the last four races of the tournament after suffering three straight defeats in the first three matches.
But they mesmerized all with a strong comeback that saw them sealed four victories in a row, including today’s 20-run win over Gemcon Khulna.
Dhaka’s main batsmen couldn’t fire in the match but still they won the match, which demonstrated their team strength and unity, said Robi.
“Mushi (Mushfiqur Rahim) is our best batsman but he couldn’t come up with any good innings today. However still we piled up 179, which is the testament of our batting depth,” Robi said here today after the match.
“Sabbir Rahman was out of form but he hit form today in crucial game. He made a half-century and gave us the total that was good enough for the bowlers.”
Robi himself then led the side in bowling, taking 5-27, the first five-for in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
“I got some help from the pitch. Because of the assistance from the pitch, I could spin the ball well and it was too much for the Khulna batsmen,” he said of his achievement.
