JS body on environment ministry meets
DHAKA, Dec 10, 2020 (BSS) – A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today under the chairmanship of Committee Chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury.
Committee members Deputy Minister for Service, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Zafar Alam, Md Rezaul Karim Bablu and Khodeja Nasrin Akhter Hossain participated in the meeting, said a press release here.
At the meeting, the committee unanimously agreed in principle of the ‘Handbook Preparation Concept on Proposed Climate Financing’, prepared by UNDP.
However, an elaborate discussion was held on how UNDP can play a more effective role in mitigating the effects of climate change and how MPs can play a greater role in mitigating climate damage in their respective areas.
AKMG Kibria Majumder, Committee Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Md Khurshid Alam, Assistant Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh, Akhtar Hossain, Professor, Department of Public Administration, Dhaka University and other officials of UNDP and Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
