V-day hockey to begin December 21
DHAKA, Dec. 9, 2020 (BSS)- The Victory Day Hockey Competition will begin from December 21 on the occasion of victory day at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city.
Talking to BSS today Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf informed that six teams will take part in the competition.
The participating teams are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party and Sonali Bank, he added.
The BHF acting general secretary said the six teams, split into two groups, will compete each other with the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinal.
Meanwhile, Yousuf informed them that they have a plan to start the Premier Hockey League soon after the victory day hockey competition.
“We have already made ready bylaws of the league and are preparing to send the participating clubs. After sending the bylaws to the clubs, we’ll take a decision to start the premier league,” he said.
Replying to a question, the BHF acting general secretary said the federation have also planned to start a senior hockey team for the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in March next year.
We’ll soon sit with this issue and let’s see whether we can start the camp next month or not, Yousuf concluded.
