PM’s relief fund allocates 51,600 blankets for Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 9, 2020 (BSS) – The Prime Minister’s Relief Fund has allocated 51,600 pieces of blankets for distribution among the clod-stricken poor and distressed people to mitigate their sufferings across the district.

“We have allocated 460 pieces of blankets for each of the 76 unions in all eight upazilas of the district where the distribution process continues,” District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) of Rangpur ATM Akhteruzzaman told BSS today.

Besides, the blankets are being distributed among the cold-hit destitute people abiding by health directives of the government in the wake of coronavirus pandemic in all three municipalities and Rangpur City Corporation areas.

Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan at a ceremony distributed 220 pieces of blankets among the cold-stricken people of Ward No-19 in the city on Tuesday night as the chief guest.

Presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan, Mayor of Rangpur Md. Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the function as the special guest.

Panel Mayor of Rangpur and City councilor for Ward No-19 Mahmudur Rahman Titu moderated the function participated by officials of the district administration and Rangpur City Corporation.

The divisional commissioner said the government would continue distribution of blankets among the cold-hit people of all eight districts in Rangpur division throughout the winter season to stand beside them and mitigate their sufferings.
