Govt extends cabinet secretary’s tenure by two years

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2020 (BSS) – The government has extended the tenure of
Cabinet Secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam by two years as his one-year
tenure is scheduled to expire on December 15 next.

Public Administration Ministry today issued a gazette in this
regard, saying that the order would come into force immediately after
joining on December 16 or subsequently.

Former Bridges Division’s senior secretary Anwarul Islam got
appointment as the cabinet secretary on October 13 last year and
joined there on October 28.

The 1982 BCS (Special) batch officer of administration cadre was
scheduled to go on Post Retirement Leave (PRL) from December 15 last.
The government appointed him cabinet secretary for one-year term on
December 9 last year.

Anwarul earned his BSS (Hons) and MSS in Social Welfare from Dhaka
University. He also holds a post-graduate diploma in development
planning.
