Testimony against SI Jalil and cop Matiur initiates

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2020 (BSS) – Testimony against Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police Mohammad A Jalil Matabbar and constable Mohammad Matiur Rahman began in two separate cases under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act.

Darussalam police sub-inspector Mohammad Aminul Islam and constable Mohammad Matiur Rahman have been testified in the arms and drug cases before the court of Dhaka’s Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Rabiul Alam today.

After the cross-examination, the court fixed January 25 as the date for next testimony.

Earlier on November 8, the court framed charges against accused Jalil Matabbar and ordered for trial.

Jalil Matabbar , posted in Detective Branch (DB) of Narayanganj was arrested from Darussalam police station area on February 19 last.

According to the complaint of the case, SI Jalil sent his various things to Gopalganj through courier service.

The courier authorities informed the police as the parcels were filled with a kind of smell and police suspected that there might be drugs inside.

Darus Salaam police opened the parcel and recovered 5,289 pieces of yaba, 1.3 kg cannabis, 40.75 grams of heroin, 9 cans of beer, 988 pieces of yaba like tablets , 27 rounds of ammunition with two magazines and a pistol.

On the same day, Inspector (Unarmed) Dulal Hossain filed two cases against him at Darussalam Police Station under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act.

Nazrul Islam, SI (unarmed) of the concerned police station, filed the charge sheet in the arms case on March 22 last and in the drug case on July 9 last.
