Sculptures are part of history and heritage in UAE: Alamudi

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2020 (BSS)- United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mission Head to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Alamudi today said there are many hundred-year-old sculptures in the UAE.

“The sculptures of the UAE are a part of country’s history and heritage and there is no reason to change those,” he said while talking to journalists after paying a courtesy call on Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at his office at Secretariat in the city.

Hasan told journalists, “You all know that Bangladesh and the UAE achieved independence in the same year in 1971 and there was a deep relation between our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and UAE founder Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. And there was a role of the UAE in building the country.”

He said thousands of Bangladeshi workers are working in the UAE independently in different professions. Discussions were held over easing the UAE visa process for Bangladeshis, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said the UAE has already sought places for economic zone in the Bangabandhu Shilpanagari in Mirersarai at Chattogram.

“I also urged the UAE to invest more in Bangladesh. Besides, discussions were also held over construction of a maternity hospital, nursing training centre and food processing mill on 100 acres of land in my constituency at Ranguniya which was given to the UAE founder Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as honour,” he added.

Alamudi informed that he is working to move the historical and deep relations of the two countriesforward.
