GAIBANDHA, Dec 8, 2020 (BSS)- A total of 150 cold affected families of Kamarajani union under Sadar uapzila have got blankets from the upazila administration to mitigate their sufferings caused by ongoing cold wave.
A simple function organized by upazila administration was also held on the premises of Kamarjani Union Parishad on Monday with sadar UNO RafiulAlam in the chair.
Deputy commissioner(DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief guest and additional deputy commissioner(general) AlamgirKabirSaikat was present at the event as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the cold wave had been sweeping over the district for few days last creating untold sufferings to the ultra-poor man of the district.
Taking this in view the administration took initiative to distribute warm clothes to the cold affected people of the district aimed at mitigating their sufferings, the DC also said.
Accordingly, the administration started distributing warm clothes to the cold affected poor people of the district, the DC added.
The DC also urged the people to maintain social distancing and follow other health guidelines to contain second wave of Corona.
Later, the DC formally distributed blankets to the cold affected poor people of the union.
Upazila project implementation officer Anisur Rahman, Kamarjani union parishad chairman Abdus Salam Jakir, local elite, invited persons and journalists were present on the occasion.
