DHAKA, Dec 7, 2020 (BSS) – The Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) today demanded arrest of those who patronized the culprits in vandalizing an under construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.

DUTA came up with the demand at a human chain formed at the base of Aparajeo Bangla premises on Dhaka University campus this afternoon.

While addressing the human chain, DU Vice-Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman said it has become necessary to bring the perpetrators to the book who dared to humiliate the architect of the country.

“Stern action should be taken immediately against them, who are creating splitamong people by spreading provocative speech about religions,” he added.

The VC urged the government to identify the patronizers immediately to prevent such incident in the future, saying, “A group of people of evil forces are active behind such incidents who always use people’s religious sentiment. So, it has become crying need to identify them and bring them to the book.”

DUTA acting president Dr Lutfar Rahman, General Secretary Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani, Deans of different faculties, chairman of different departments and teachers, among others, were present on the occasion.

On Saturday, a group of miscreants damaged the Bangabandhu’s under construction sculpture located in Kushtia town.
