Stocks maintain positive trend
DHAKA, Dec 7, 2020 (BSS) – Like the previous day, stocks today witnessed
positive trends in Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as bargain hunters
showed a buying spree on lucrative issues.
DSEX, the key index of the DSE, jumped 29.10 points or 0.57 per cent to
settle at 5,053.49. Two other indices also ended higher. The DS30 index,
comprising blue chips, advanced 14.57 points to finish at 1,763.21 and the
DSE Shariah Index rose 8.83 points to close at 1,159.64.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, rose to Taka 8.48 billion,
which was higher than the previous day’s turnover of Taka 8.44 billion.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 354 issues traded, 126
ended higher, 141 closed lower while 87 issues remained unchanged on the DSE
trading floor.
Beximco topped the turnover list, closely followed by Beximco Pharma,
Republic Insurance, IFIC, Fortune Shoes and Square Pharma.
Miracle Industries was the day’s best performer while CAPMIBBLMF was the
worst loser.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with its All Shares Price
Index (CASPI)-soaring 72.69 points to close at 14,496.74 while the Selective
Categories Index – CSCX rising 45.67 points to close at 8,727.39.
Of the issues traded, 98 advanced, 115 declined and 56 remained unchanged
on the CSE.
