90.63pc Coronavirus patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Dec 7, 2020 (BSS) – Over 90.63 percent Coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients have recovered against the average infection rate of 16.35 percent since the beginning of the pandemic in Rangpur division.

“A total of 13,132 COVID-19 patients out of 14,489 infected have already healed at the recovery rate of 90.63 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 88,627 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Sunday night, and of them, 14,489 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 16.35 percent.

The district-wise break up of the 14,489 patients stands at 3,696 in Rangpur, 742 in Panchagarh, 1,251 in Nilphamari, 935 in Lalmonirhat, 975 in Kurigram, 1,403 in Thakurgaon, 4,127 in Dinajpur and 1,360 in Gaibandha districts of the division.

“The average COVID-19 infection rate of 16.35 percent is currently 5.54 times less that the recovery rate of 90.63 percent in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 13,132 with the healing of 73 more infected people on Sunday across the division.

The 13,132 recovered COVID-19 patients include 3,073 of Rangpur, 703 of Panchagarh, 1,191 of Nilphamari, 900 of Lalmonirhat, 928 of Kurigram, 1,198 of Thakurgaon, 3,853 of Dinajpur and 1,286 of Gaibandha districts.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the total number of fatalities remained steady at 270 as no more death was reported from anywhere in the division during the last 24 hours till 8 am today (Monday).

“The district-wise break up of the 270 fatalities stands at 61 in Rangpur, 96 in Dinajpur, 30 in Thakurgaon, 23 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 15 in Gaibandha, 20 in Panchagarh and 10 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at over 1.86 percent in the division,” he said.

Among the total 14,489 COVID-19 infected patients, 82 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 13,132 patients and 270 deaths while 941 remaining in home isolations.

“Since the beginning, a total of 89,782 people of the division were put in quarantines, and of them, 84,079 released and 5,703 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu the COVID-19 infection rate continues to show a rising trend in recent weeks.

“We have taken inclusive steps to inspire common people in wearing masks and abiding by the health directives to prevent further spread of COVID-19 infection during the current second wave of the deadly virus in the division,” he added.
