Muktijuddha Mancha to file sedition case against Faizul, Mamunul
DHAKA, Dec 5, 2020 (BSS) – Muktijuddha Mancha, a platform of the progenies of the Freedom Fighters, is going to file a sedition case against Nayeb Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Syed Faizul Karim and Acting Secretary General of Khilafat-e-Majlis Mamunul Haque on charges of insulting Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through opposing erection of his sculpture.
Filing of case at the CMM court in Dhaka tomorrow was disclosed at a press conference held at the Dhaka University Journalists’ Association’s (DUJA) office here today.
President of the organization Aminul Islam Bulbul said Faizul Mamunul had committed the crime of treason by threatening to throw the sculpture of Bangabandhu into The Buriganga river and opposing the construction of the sculpture.
“Moreover, through this, they have also opposed the constitution of the country. So we decided to file a sedition case against them”, he added.
Terming Mamunul Haque as a silent supporter of child rape Bulbul said, “In the last month about 35 madrasa students of the country have been raped.
Of them two children died and one child committed suicide.”
“It is very unfortunate that we have not yet seen any comment or protest of the country’s Islamic scholars on such scandalous incidents,” he furthered.
They placed a seven-point demands which include exemplary punishment of duo, setting up Bangabandhu’s sculpture at all educational institutions and districts, banning religion- based politics to keep communal harmony, setting up an anti-sexual harassment cell to monitor sexual assaults on students, ensuring punishment to those who spread communal speech and ensuring capital punishment for child molesters.
The Mancha will hold a documentary exhibition on rape of madrasa students at Raju Memorial Sculpture on Dhaka University (DU) campus next Wednesday.
General Secretary of the organization Al Mamun and DU unit president Sonnet Mahmud among others addressed the press conference.
