Ruyel Mea replaces injured Mominul in Chattogram

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2020 (BSS)-Young pacer Ruyel Mea replaced Mominul Haque in Gazi Group Chattogram after the Bangladesh Test captain was ruled out of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup due to a finger injury.

Chattogram manager Sheikh Sohel Rana said Ruyel Mea had already joined the team after being tested negative for Covid-19.

Mominul injured his index finger of right hand while fielding in the match against Gemcon Khulna last week.

After scanning the injured finger, a serious fracture was found out.

“He needs operation to recover fully from the injury,” said BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury.

Chattogram physio Mohammad Enamul Haque said, it usually takes four to six weeks to recover from this type of fracture.

While he is ruled out from the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, his possibility to play against West Indies in a Test series in January looks slim.

It is however learnt, BCB is trying to send Mominul Dubai very soon for the surgery. They choose Dubai due to the less strict quarantine issue.

BCB generally sends its players to England or Australia for operation but in those countries, Mominul would have to stay quarantine for 14 days, so BCB opted Dubai for his operation.
