Ansar & VDP clinch Fed. Cup Handball (women’s) title

DHAKA, Dec. 5, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party came from behind to clinch title of the 1st Federation Cup Handball competition (women’s) beating Bangladesh Police Handball team by 31-23 goals in the title deciding final match held today (Saturday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.

The champions however trailed the first half by 16-13 goals.

In the day’s final, Khadiza of Ansar Handball Club scored six goals while Khaleda of Police Handball Club netted seven goals in the day’s final match.

Rubina of the Bangladesh Police Handball Club was named the player of the match for her impressive performance.

Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan was present in the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the champions and runners-up team after the final match.

Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) vice president Golam Habib presided over the prize distribution ceremony.

BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, BHF vice president and managing committee’s chairman Nurul Islam, BHF executive member and managing committee’s secretary Selim Mia Babu, were among others, present in the prize distribution ceremony

Earlier, on the way to the final, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party confirmed their spot of final eliminating Naogaon DSA in the first semifinal while Bangladesh Police Handball Club got the ticket of final by beating Jamalpur Sports Academy in the second semis.

Jamalpur Sports Academy earlier finished third position beating Naogaon District Sports Association (DSA) in the keenly contested place-deciding match.
