Signal 3 for maritime ports to continue for more two days

DHAKA, July 8, 2018 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three as a low formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining areas is likely to intensify further.

“The maritime ports should hoist the local cautionary signal number three for more two days as the low is likely to intensify further,” Mizanur Rahman, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told BSS this afternoon.

Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining areas while squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country, he said.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Earlier, the BMD office issued a warning message asking the maritime ports to hoist the local cautionary signal number three on Saturday.
