Taiwan’s CPI climbs 1.31 pct in June

TAIPEI, July 8, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Taiwan’s Consumer Price Index (CPI)
grew by 1.31 percent year-on-year in June, according to the island’s
statistics agency.

The agency mainly attributed the rise to price increases in cigarettes,
fuel, gas, eggs and dairy produce.

However, vegetables, fruit, telecom fees and consumer electronics saw price
drops compared with last June.

The core CPI, which excludes vegetables, fruit and energy, saw a year-on-
year rise of 1.3 percent.

For the first six months of the year, the CPI was up 1.6 percent year on
year, while the core CPI gained 1.4 percent.
