COVID-19 cases reach 24,860 in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Nov 29, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 24,860 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in recent days only in the district.
“The number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 24,860 in the district as 68 new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus at eight laboratories in Chattogram,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS today.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 19,265 with the recovery of 123 more infected people in the district in the last 24 hours.
“The average recovery rate stands at 77.49 percent in Chattogram district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, adding that the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is currently yet more than the average infection rate.
Among the newly detected patients, 63 are from Chattogram city and five from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Among the total infected persons, 18,950 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,910 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
With one more death in the last 24 hours, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) fatalities in the district reached 317.
“Among the total 23,564 COVID-19 patients, 1478 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 19,265 patients and 317 deaths while 3700 are remaining in home isolations in the district,” Dr. Rabbi added.
