JASHORE, Nov 29, 2020 (BSS) – Ruling Awami League-backed lawyers’ panel won a landslide victory in the Jashore Bar Association election held here on Saturday, bagging 10 posts including the general secretary.
BNP-backed lawyers’ panel Jatiyatabadi Lawyers united council got only two posts including library secretary and an executive member.
Besides, Ganotantrik Ainjibi Samity candidate Kazi Faridul Islam got president post.
Chief Election Commissioner of the election Advocate Ismot Hasar declared the result last night at 9.30 pm.
Sources said, Ganotantrik Ainjibi Samity candidate Advocate Kazi Faridul Islam who got 186 votes and Pro-Awami League-backed candidate Shanur Alom Shahin who got 284 votes were elected president and general secretary respectively in the election.
The other office-bearers are: Pro-Awami League candidates Khondokar Moazzem Hossain Mukul and GM Abu Musa (Vice-president), Abul Kaies (Joint-Secretary), Zahidul Islam Sweet and Nasir Uddin (Assistant Secretary), Pro-BNP candidate Nuruzzaman Khan (Library secretary) and Pro-Awami League candidates Rezaur Rahman, Abdullah Al Masud, Arif Shariar, Nabo Kumar Kundu and Pro-BNP candidate Selim Reza (Members).
A total of twenty seven candidates contested in the election for the 13 post.
A total of 463, out of total 474, voters cast votes in the election held from 10 am to 4.30 pm.
