6 dredgers seized for illegal sand lifting in Manikganj
MANIKGANJ, Nov 28, 2020 (BSS) – Manikganj Sadar Upazila administration seized six dredgers for illegal sand lifting from Dhaleshwari river this afternoon.
Acting on secret information, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ali Razib Mahmud Mithun in association with law enforcers conducted a mobile court at Mokimpur and Jannakandi areas of Krishnapur union of Manikganj sadar upazila and seized six dredgers for illegal sand lifting from Dhaleshwari river.
Locals said a group of unscrupulous people were lifting sand from the different areas of the river illegally with three kiolometre long pipe that caused huge river erosion and siltation.
The team later destroyed all important parts of the seized dredgers.
