CHATTOGRAM, Jul 7, 2018 (BSS) – Two doctors of much talked Max Hospital were sacked here as a probe committee found their negligence in the treatment of the death of two and a half years old girl Rafida Khan Raifa.
The two doctors are Dr Debashish Sengupta and Dr Shuvra Deb.
The Max hospital authorities took the decision after the two probes found all three doctors were guilty of negligence in the treatment of Rafida Khan and recommended that proceedings be initiated against them.
The probe committee found the lack of experience and sincerity of the doctors in the treatment of Raifa.
The probe report also said there was lack of coordination between doctors and nurses and lack of monitoring in treatment and child specialist Dr Bidhan Roy Chowdhury of the hospital did not observe the patient attentively and also did not take proper time to observe Raifa.
The investigation found that the three doctors had been negligent in their duties.
Raifa Khan, 3, daughter of Rubel Khan, staff reporter of the Daily Samakal, died due to wrong treatment at the private hospital in the port city in the early morning of June 29.
The Health Ministry formed the investigation committee on June 30 headed by Prof Dr Jahandir and another three-member probe body was formed on the same day, following a decision jointly taken by the leaders of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) at city’s Chawkbazar thana with Chattogram Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddique as its head.
