Mahedi elated to execute his ‘yorker’ plan against Dhaka

DHAKA, Nov 24, 2020 (BSS) — All-rounder Mahedi Hasan was happy to execute the plan well while he was defending 9 runs in the last over to resist a Beximco Dhaka victory against Minister Group Rajshahi on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Mahedi who earlier blasted 32 ball-50 in batting to help his side Rajshahi pile up 169-9, was given the responsibility in the last over to help them win the game.

He duly did that, helping the side to win the game by two runs.

He had to bowl against a batsman Muktar Ali who cracked three sixes in the penultimate over to indicate a Dhaka victory.

Knowing that to defend 9 runs in T20 cricket is utmost difficult, Mahedi said to stop Muktar Ali his plan was to give Yorker to prevent the batsmen from scoring runs.

“I always trust on my ability and the captain also kept his faith in me. My colleagues also believed that I can win the match for the side,” Mahedi said here today after the match.

“So I wanted to win the game. I tried to make my Yorker perfect and I was eventually successful,” he added.

Mahedi eventually gave just 6 runs in that over including a no ball. He was adjudged man of the match for his match-winning performance.

“It’s nice to be adjudged man of the match. I feel lucky to contribute to my team with both my batting and bowling,” he said.
