Govt working to build science-based society: Rezaul

PIROJPUR, Nov 24, 2020 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said the government is working sincerely to build a science-minded society and a state system based on information and technology.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making sincere efforts to build Bangladesh a science and technology-based one,” he told a prize distribution programme here.

Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Administration arranged a science fair and the award distribution programme on the upazila parishad premises on the occasion of the 42nd National Science and Technology Week 2020, and the 5th National Science Olympiad 2020, a ministry press release said.

Speaking as the chief guest, Rezaul said the world is now in the grips of people due to advancement of science and technology, while the world has become a global village.

To this end, he said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be commended for the wonderful progress of Bangladesh.

Noting that today’s young scientists will create a Bangladesh of possibilities, the fisheries minister said they will be the world’s best scientists one day and will guide the nation.

Chaired by Pirojpur Sadar Upazila nirbahi officer Basir Ahmed, the function was attended, among others, by deputy commissioner of Pirojpur Abu Ali Md Sajjad Hossain, superintendent of police Hayatul Islam Khan, Pirojpur District Awami League general secretary MA Hakim Hawlader and Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman Mujibur Rahman, Pirojpur District AL vice-president Shahjahan Khan Talukder, its joint general secretary Akhtaruzzaman Fulu, organising secretary Ziaul Ahsan Gazi, Pirojpur District Krishka League president Chan Mia Majhi, former freedom fighter commander of Pirojpur Gautam Narayan Roy Chowdhury and Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Parishad vice-chairman SM Baizid Hossain.
