Awami Jubo League holds milad of Sheikh Razia in city
DHAKA, Nov 24, 2020 (BSS) – The Awami Jubo League held milad and doa-mahfil of Sheikh Razia Naser, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s younger brother and valiant Freedom Fighter Sheikh Abu Naser and mother of lawmakers Sheikh Helal Uddin and Sheikh Jewel, today in the city.
Special prayers and milad-mahfil were held at the High Court Mazar Mosque in the capital.
Marking the milad-mahfil, the Awami Jubo League also arranged various programmes including distribution of foods among orphans and distressed people.
Jubo league leaders and well-wishers of Sheikh Razia Naser joined doa and milad mahfil seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Sheikh Razia and all martyrs of the August 15, 1975 carnage.
Awami Jubo League presidium members advocate Mamunur Rashid and Habibur Rahman, joint general secretaries – Md Badiul Alam and Md Jahir Uddin Khashru and office secretary Md Mostafizur Rahman Masud, among others, were present on the occasion.
Sheikh Razia, also aunt of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, breathed her last at the Evercare Hospital in the city’s Bashundhara residential area on November 16 at the age of 85.
She had been undergoing treatment for old age complications at the hospital since November 3.
Sheikh Razia left behind five sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.
She was laid to eternal rest at the Banani graveyard in the city where her husband along with all martyrs of the 1975’s August 15 carnage was laid to eternal rest.
Sheikh Helal Uddin, elder son of Sheikh Razia, is a lawmaker from Bagerhat-1 constituency while another son Sheikh Jewel is a lawmaker from Khulna-2 constituency.
Sheikh Sharhan Naser Tanmoy, grandson of Sheikh Razia and son of Sheikh Helal Uddin, is also a lawmaker from Bagerhat-2 constituency.
