DHAKA, Nov 20, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today called for resisting with an iron hand the people trying to push the country towards darkness by using religion for their advantage.

“Some people, who do businesses by using religion, are making derogatory remarks about the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They don’t even know the difference between sculpture and idol. They are spreading confusion,” an official release quoting the state minister as saying.

Khalid was addressing a rally in Bochaganj Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Dinajpur. He was inaugurated the construction works for nine government primary schools, two roads and 10 houses for the members of small ethnic groups.

“These people don’t want the future generation to know about the history of the country. Generation after generation will learn about Bangabandhu by seeing these sculptures. Without knowing, learning about Bangabandhu, they would not be able to learn about Bangladesh,” the state minister further said.

Presided over by Bochaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chanda Paul, the rally was also attended by Setabganj Municipality Mayor Abdus Sabur and upazila Awami League general secretary Afsar Ali, among others.
