Two ‘Allahor Dal’ operatives held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 19, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested two alleged active operatives of banned militant outfit ‘Allahor Dal’ from different areas in Pirganj upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

“A special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters conducted a sudden raid and arrested them from their respective areas,” said a press release issued here by Media Officer of RAB-13 ASP Khondker Golam Mortuza this evening.

The alleged militants were arrested in connection with a case earlier filed by the elite force with Ghoraghat Thana Police on July 24 in 2020 and as per confession of their arrested cohort militants.

The arrested persons were identified as Md. Sadekul Islam, 46, of village Fatehpur (Miahpara) and Md. Mostafizar Rahman, 30, of Ward No-5 in Pirganj municipality under Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district.

During interrogation, the detainees confessed that they are followers of ‘Allahor Dal’ leader Matin Mehedi alias Matinul Islam alias Matinul Haque Mandal and were conducting activities for the banned organisation in Ghoraghat area of Dinajpur.

They had been regularly collecting tolls, inspiring pious people through misinterpreting the religion taking advantage of their religious faith, collecting new members and money for running organizational activities in the area.

“The elite force handed the detainees over to Pirganj Thana police,” the release said, adding that investigation continues to nab their other absconding cohorts.
