‘Role of everyone crucial in facing second COVID-19 wave’

RANGPUR, Nov 18, 2020 (BSS) – Everyone should play a crucial role in promoting the urgency of wearing masks, abiding by the health directives, personal hygiene and healthy behaviour to face the second wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Public representatives, officials and civil society members expressed the opinion today at an awareness raising campaign organized by the upazila administration on its premises in Phulbari upazila town of Kurigram districts.

Public representatives, officials, politicians, freedom fighters, teachers, Imams, scouts and common people participated in the campaign following health guidelines.

The event was arranged aiming at reaching the COVID-19 awareness enhancing messages to community people to remain safe and keep others safe in the wake of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic during the winter season.

Phulbari Upazila Chairman Golam Rabbani attended the event as the chief guest with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidur Rahman in the chair.

Moderated by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Shamsunnahar Begum, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mahbubur Rashid, Upazila Engineer Asif Iqbal Rajib, Upazila Vice-chairman Abdul LatifMian, Phulbari Press Club President Mahbub Litu, among others, addressed the event.

The speakers said officials, public representatives and civil society members have already proven how effectively they can reach communities with critical awareness messages to create a positive impression on the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

They called upon all concerned for playing crucial roles through expressively talking about coughing and sneezing etiquette, social distancing and messages on quarantine and isolation during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The chief guest urged every citizen to communicate with people and help communities through providing right information and moral motivation during the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent the spread of the deadly virus during the second wave.
