COVID-19 cases cross 23,000-mark in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 18, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 23,000 marks as 178 more new cases were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1396 samples at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 23,061 in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.

Among the total infected persons, 17,285 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,776 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Despite no deaths in the last two consecutive days, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) fatalities in Chattogram reached 312.

Among the newly detected patients 144 are from Chattogram city and 34 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

With the healing of 83 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 17,501.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

Besides, 1,314 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
