Malaysia reports 660 new COVID-19 infections

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 18, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) — Malaysia reported 660 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Wednesday, bringing the national total to 50,390.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press briefing that four of the new cases are imported and with the remainder being local transmissions.

The majority of the new cases are from the eastern state of Sabah, with 387 of the new cases reported in the state.

Four more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 322.

Another 630 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 37,254, or 73.9 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 12,814 active cases, 103 are being held in intensive care units and 41 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
