Training on village courts ends in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 18, 2020 (BSS) – The three-day training on Village Court Affairs for accounts assistants cum computer operators of union parishad (UP) was held at the conference room of District Collectorate Building here on Tuesday.

Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Project, phase-11 of Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, European Union and United Nations Development Programme arranged the training.

Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO), Thakurgaon which is implementing the project at grass root level of 52 unions under Gobindaganj, Palashbari, Sadullapur and Sundarganj upazilas of the district organized the training as partner organization.

A concluding ceremony was also held at the conference room of the DC office on Tuesday afternoon with deputy director of local government section Rokhsana Begum in the chair. Deputy Commissioner (DC)Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief guest.

District facilitator (DF) of the project Syed Mohseenul Abedin, district coordinator of ESDO Atiqur Rahman, and upazila coordinators Shah M. Moazzem Billah and Shamima addressed the function, among others.

The objective of the training was to develop capacity for the village court members and support staff and sensitize all the concerned on the role and functions of village courts and their benefits on the overall justice system.

The trainees were imparted training on different issues of the village courts including the definition of village court, justice system, cases, kinds of cases, difference between civil and criminal cases, power of village court, application reception and review, decision activation, fine due to contempt to village court, investigation by the police, note preparation.

A total of 31 accounts assistants cum computer operators took part in the training.
