Man arrested for threatening to kill Shakib Al Hasan

SYLHET, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS) – A young man, who threatened to kill all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Facebook, was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Maigon in South Sunamganj here on Tuesday.

The arrestee was identified as Mohsin Talukdar, 28, son of Azad Baksh of Shahpur Talukdarpara under Sylhet Sadar upazila.

BM Ashraf Ullah Taher, Assistant deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) said a joint team of RAB-9 and police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Mohsin in the morning after being tipped-off about his location.

He was later handed over to Jalalabad Police Station.

Earlier, a case was filed with Sylhet Jalalabad police station under the Digital Security Act against Mohsin for issuing death threats to Shakib.

According to the case statement, Mohsin appeared on Facebook live and threatened to hack Shakib to death for attending a function of Kali Puja in Kolkata recently.

In the evening, Mohsin again went live on Facebook and apologised for threatening Shakib and advised the cricketer to apologise to the nation.
