CHATTOGRAM, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS)- The Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court of the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) sent the owner of a building to jail for violating Building Construction Code.
CDA Special Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Alam sent the building owner Saifuddin to jail after rejecting his bail plea as he surrendered before the court and sought the bail on Tuesday.
The accused is one of the owners of Hotel Eastern View on Agrabad Sheikh Mujib Road in the city.
Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court Bench Assistant Faiz Ahmed told BSS that Saifuddin along with his three partners got approval from the CDA to construct a six-storey building. But, they built a building with 11 floors instead of six floors out of the design, he said.
“The Authorization Department filed a case in this regard,” Faiz Ahmed said, adding that the court took cognizance of the case and issued warrants against them.
