BNP will get ruined in own fire if continues ill-politics: Hasan

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said if BNP does not give up ill-politics, it will get ruined in its own fire.

“If BNP comes out of its ill-politics, it will sustain in politics. Otherwise, the party will burn to ashes in its own fire,” he said while speaking at a discussion through videoconferencing from his official residence here.

National Awami Party (NAP) arranged the discussion at Jatiya Press Club in the capital, marking 44th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.

Speaking as the chief guest, Hasan, also the Awami League joint general secretary, said BNP was involved in the game of burning people alive during 2013-2015 period.

“If the party still plays with fire, it will get finished in its own fire,” he added.

The information minister said BNP is too weak to stand up now but “we want a strong opposition”.

By not standing by people amid the COVID-19 crisis, BNP is setting busses on fire like in the past and burning people alive, he said adding “but they (BNP leaders) are continuously falsifying”.

“It’s now as clear as daylight, they’ve done it (torched busses), they’d done it in the past,” he added.

Hasan said once many of today’s BNP leaders were the followers of Maulana Bhasani and they joined the BNP to grab the remnants of the power distributed by Ziaur Rahman, derailing from Maulana Bhasani’s ideology.

“We can see today that the isolated leaders, sold-out politicians in the haats (market) of politics and deviant politicians cannot really lead any party,” he added.

Responding to a comment of BNP vice-chairman Maj Hafiz, the AL joint general secretary said BNP leaders do not believe in the politics of vote and they also understand that the government will never fall through street movements.

“In fact, they had chosen the path of conspiracy in the past. They are still hatching conspiracies,” he said.

Showing respect to Maulana Bhashani, Hasan said Bhashani never did politics for power and never compromised with power.

In order to bring the drawing room-centric politics of the Muslim League to the notice of the people, Hasan said, firstly Awami Muslim League was formed under the leadership of the oppressed public leader, Maulana Bhasani, and later he joined the movement of the country’s independence under the leadership of Awami League aiming to uphold the non-communal consciousness.

Noting that Bangladesh became independent through a long liberation war under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said the name of Maulana Bhasani will be inscribed in the golden letters in the history of the country’s politics.

Chaired by NAP chairman MA Bhasani, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Alhaj Adv Ruhul Amin Ruhul, MP, vice-president of Muktijoddha Samonnoy Parishad Akram Hossain, Awami League leaders MA Karim and advocate Balram Poddar, general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarkar Rana, president of Bangabandhu Research Council Lion Md Gani Mia Babul and Awami Swechchhasebak League leader Azgar Ali.
