Mahmudullah recovers from Covid-19

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS)—Bangladesh T20 International captain Mahmudullah finally recovered from the novel coronavirus and prepared himself to start training for the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

He had no visible symptoms of the dreaded virus but maintained isolation at home since November 8.

Mahmudullah announced the negative result on Covid-19 today after being appointed as the captain of Gemcon Khulna for Bangbandhu T20 Cup.

“I was tested Covid-19 negative yesterday so I am excited to be back on the field soon. I would like to thank Gemcon Khulna owner Kazi Inam Ahmed and the management team for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead Gemcon Khulna in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup,” he said.

“My association with Gemcon has been for a long time now having played with Khulna Titans in Bangladesh Premier League T20 for three years. So it is always good to be back with them as I feel it is my home team,” he added.

Mahmudullah, who was recruited by Multan Sultans in place of English all-rounder Moeen Ali was supposed to leave the country on November 9 to play the playoffs of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Tamim is the other player, who was roped in by Lahore Qalandars, replacing Chris Lynn to play the PSL playoffs.

As a prerequisite for flying, the 34-year old Mahmudullah underwent a Covid-19 test and found himself positive. To double check he made another test but the result showed the same outcome.
