Covid-19 positive cases in Ctg district reach 22,883

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 22,883 marks as 157 new patients were diagnosed with the viral disease.

Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS that among the total 22,883 coronavirus infected persons, 17,141 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,742 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

A total of 157 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,382 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Among the newly detected patients, 133 are from Chattogram city and 24 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

“One more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 312,” he added.

A total of 1382 samples were tested at eight authorized laboratories in the district during the time.

With the healing of 81 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 17418.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said.

Besides, 1,284 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
